Atlanta FCM Chapter was held at the home of John Jefferson on September 8, 2011

The September meeting of the Atlanta FCM Chapter was held at the home of John Jefferson on September 8, 2011.  Those in attendance were:  John and Julia Jefferson, Rick and Angela Jeffers, and Randy Burt.

We watched segments of three DVDs that John had chosen:  Ron London’s paper tear from the 1982 FCM Convention; a portion of Jack Markley’s lecture from the 2011 convention; and Bob McAllister performing several tricks in a teaching lecture series.  After much discussion we adjourned to the “Magic Room” where the members took turns sharing ideas and effects.

We discussed our planned attendance of the Nashville Conference on Sept. 29-Oct. 1. And our plans for next month which will include more clips from  magic DVDs as well as our wonderful sharing of ideas and effects.

Please mark your calendars for our next meeting—October 13, 2011 at the home of John Jefferson.  We would love to see some new faces!

Until then,

Keep the “SON” Shining…

John

Attached are the complete minutes from the meeting.

The September meeting of our Atlanta FCM Chapter was held at the home of John and Julia Jefferson. Those in attendance were: John and Julia Jefferson, Rick and Angela Jeffers and Randy Burt.

After fellowship and chicken pot pie, we moved to watch several video clips that John had selected for the group. We watched a short clip of the 1982 FCM Convention from Winona Lake where Ron London performed a paper tear. His unique use of a music stand with double stick tape made the effect visible to a seated audience. Next we viewed a portion of Jack Markley’s lecture he presented to the 2011 FCM Convention. We especially enjoyed his “Grandma’s Clothespin Box” effect. The last DVD was of Bob McAllister performing various simple tricks. We were all baffled and amazed at his floating “ball” effect when we discovered it really wasn’t a ball at all!! After sharing our thoughts and ideas about the videos, we met in the “Magic Room” where Randy opened with prayer.

Randy showed us his “Impossible Coin Vanish” using aluminum foil. The quarter represented sin and the piece of paper that covered it represented us. He pointed out that Jesus does not cover sin the way we try to; he removes it, as the quarter disappears. Randy gave us tips on imprinting the coin on the foil: use heavy foil, use your fingernail to carefully smooth the foil over the coin. Randy then gave each person an Oreo bending cookie after he demonstrated its use.

Rick then showed his colorful wooden beads on a string effect. We are covered by the blood of Jesus and we are then set free. He explained how the string was put through the beads so that it would release the beads at the proper time. The beads and string were a great, inexpensive way to present the gospel!

John shared the trick that was given to him by Jeff Arnold at the FCM Convention this year. He showed the tube empty and then produced many beautiful silks and streamers. He requested that the members please look for a can with a 3” concave bottom as he would like for Jeff to make a larger one .

John then shared his magic square math trick with the gospel routine we have used. He used a clear force bag with three pockets. John gave each member a copy of the instructions and the patter he had used. John then gave each member a box of large blue and silver streamers they can use in productions!

Randy shared his Invisible Ink pen with a light and his magnetic PK ring.

We had a truly great meeting with such warm fellowship. We are looking forward to several of us attending the conference in Nashville at the end of September.

John closed with prayer.
