FCM Atlanta Chapter Minutes for April 16, 2015

The April 16, 2015 meeting of the Atlanta Chapter of the FCM was held at the home of John and Julia Jefferson.  Those in attendance were:  John and Julia Jefferson; Judy Neyland; Leland Davis; Randy Burt; Mark Childers; Eugene McBrayer.

After dinner—thanks, Judy for the yummy dessert!—we adjourned to the family room.  Once again we truly had a DELIGHTFUL evening of sharing and laughs and lots of “learnin”!!!!

Our next meeting will be the THIRD THURSDAY OF MAY—May 21, 2015.  It will be at the home of John and Julia Jefferson beginning at 6:30 p.m. or whenever you can get here!

Following this message is a summary of our meeting.

Keep the “SON” Shining…

John Jefferson

MINUTES:

Leland opened with prayer.  We were remembering our absent members hoping they would be able to return soon.

Mark began with his Zippo/D’Lite trick he used with an app on his smart phone.  What a clever idea!!!  We enjoyed trying it.  Thanks, Mark.

Leland began by telling us that his Sunday morning kids are pretty sharp and definitely look to see how his tricks work!!  Leland enjoys presenting the gospel to the children and we are sure they are delighted to see him each Sunday!

Leland did  “He is Risen” for the students – a very powerful message that they received very well.  He also performed “In His Time” a super science “magic” trick.  He explained that God answers our prayers with a yes, no, or wait.  God’s yes/no answer may be quick but the “wait” requires patience.  To illustrate the yes/no answer, Leland dropped a marble down a long tube and it fell out quickly.  When he demonstrated patience, the object very slowly and mysteriously floated down the tube!!  Leland’s students are very blessed to have him as their teacher.

“Hopping Half” Randy was next.  Randy deftly demonstrated his slight of hand coin tricks.  He also showed the Scotch and Soda trick.  Randy told us that the Johnson Coin Company made the very best coin magic.  He did a great job.  We enjoyed his “easy to do” effects!!!  Randy asked for ideas about the performance of another coin trick.  Mark was quick to demonstrate his thoughts.  Thanks, Mark.

Judy showed us her Soldier’s Bible card trick.  John demonstrated the trick and made sure she could do it.  We are so glad to see Judy.  Thanks, Judy, for the wonderful magic with a message that you do for the nursing homes.  You bring a great deal of joy to lots of people—including us!

We were so happy to have Eugene back.  He has had a busy winter with medical issues and lots of work.  Hope you can come next time, Eugene.

John was up next.  He demonstrated several effects he learned while attending the FCM regional meeting in Taylor, MI last week.  He started with “100 Bible Names” which is a really cool mental trick that is self-working.

Using a Switch Vase, John used several silks which represented names of Jesus eg. “Wonderful, Counselor, Emanuel, etc.”  He then produced a Jesus silk from the switch vase.

John then spent the rest of the meeting going over his notes from the Michigan Creative Arts Conference 2015.  He went lecture by lecture of the various topics, shows, and techniques presented by the speakers.  We were entertained by many jokes and humorous clown gags that were taught.  John then showed some auction items he had purchased.

Don’t forget, our May meeting will be the THIRD THURSDAY==MAY 21, 2015.  Hope to see you!

Julia Jefferson
