The following are the minutes of the Atlanta Chapter 8/11/2011 FCM Meeting:

August 11, 2011

Our first OFFICIAL FCM meeting was held at the home of John Jefferson.  Those in attendance were:  John and Julia Jefferson, Rick and Angela Jeffers, Leland Davis, and Randy Burt.

After refreshments, Leland opened with prayer.

John showed all of us the official charter that he received for our chapter from Del Wilson at the FCM Convention in July!!!  Each person was given a picture of John receiving the charter on behalf of the members.

Rick shared his trick with his “elaborate, highly expensive straw”!!  (a good straw can be obtained from our friendly  Moe’s Restaurant!)  The message was that as we go through life, we are often torn and confused.  God says if we place ourselves in His hands, that we will be restored.

Angela and Rick shared their experience with a Work of Life Club a few days before.  The club is Scott’s ministry.  Rick performed several illusions and ministered to the children—a very rewarding experience.

Randy gave us an informative account of his annual trip to Oklahoma with Ricky Henson.    It is Randy’s 19th year to minister to the Indians in that area.  There were 450 children this year—58 were saved.  He described the 110+ degree temperatures and all of the activities they have to engage the Indian population in seeking Jesus.  Ricky will not attend the FCM Convention next year for the first time.  The new date for the conference conflicts with his OK trip.

Randy showed us a trick with a white/black/red shoelace and told us a Gospel application:  man was pure, sin made him black and then Christ died (red) to save us.  He also showed us a trick with a balloon and a dollar bill  where a vanished dollar “appeared” in a popped balloon.

John and Julia talked about their mission trip to Jefferson City, TN.  We were able to share the Gospel through magic with several hundred children both in the projects and at Boys and Girls Clubs.

John then did his Bar-None-Box trick and produced several “honking” chickens—one for each member!!  John found them at a flea market after many adventures.  He was determined to have one for each of our members!!

John  went over the FCM Convention booklet  and daily bulletins to show the members what the convention is like.  We hope that at least several of us will be able to attend next year.

We discussed the conference in Nashville, TN  on Sept. 29-Oct. 1.  As it turns out, John and Julia, Rick and Angela, and Leland will all be attending!!

Another fun, successful meeting was closed with prayer by John.

We are looking forward to next month.
