October 17, 2013 meeting of the Atlanta Chapter of the FCM

The October 17, 2013 meeting of the Atlanta Chapter of the FCM was held at the home of John and Julia Jefferson. Those in attendance were John and Julia Jefferson, Randy Burt, Eugene McBrayer and Mark Childers.
After viewing our Duane Laflin DVD, Art of Gospel Magic, we adjourned to the Magic room for our time of sharing.
Our next meeting will be the SECOND Thursday in November—November 14, 2013. We hope to see all of you!
Attached is a summary of our meeting.
Keep the “SON” Shining…
John Jefferson

John shared that a member of our group, Jim Magus, was featured in the IBM Linking Ring magazine!! We’re proud of you, Jim.

John then gave our 2 new members the shiny garlands used by Randy last week, for use in productions.

Randy showed us his version of the hot rod, paddle trick. He had some unique moves which he shared. Randy talked about our sins being represented by the scarlet red stones and if we accept Jesus, they will disappear in His sight because of His forgiveness. Randy said that actually doing the move slowly is more amazing and still cannot be detected. Of course, the operative word in magic is…practice!!

Randy then shared with us his homemade, beautifully made, Arrow Card. He related a story about an elderly man on a park bench who was encouraged to go left, right, etc. to get to a specific church. The ultimate point was, it is not where you go to church, it is whether or not you have Jesus. Jesus is the only way to heaven. Great trick and great message!

Mark then treated us to his vanishing $5.00 bill trick using a sleeve pull with a wonderful Gospel application. God takes care of even the smallest of creatures on our earth. How much more he provides for us. Our job is to trust and believe in Jesus. Thank you, Mark!! Slick moves!

The Six Bill Repeat trick was discussed and John showed the group several versions. The trick can also be made.

John then gave a mini-lecture, showing the group a series of very simple effects that can be shown one-on-one or in a small group. John gave each member a copy of the instructions, the gospel patter and the trick itself. The effects included: Do As I Do Knot in the middle; Bracelet on the Arm; The Rising Ring; The Two Book Mental Test; Three Color Ropes—Trinity; The Door; The Cross Paper Tear—life or hell.

This concluded our meeting. We look forward to seeing everyone at our regularly scheduled second Thursday of the month meeting. The meeting will be November 14, 2013.
