he September 11, 2014 meeting of the Atlanta Chapter of the FCM was held at the home of John and Julia Jefferson. Those in attendance were: John and Julia Jefferson; Rick, Angela and Kristen Jeffers; Tim Franzen; Mark Childers; Judy Neyland; Eugene McBrayer; and Leland Davis.
After our fellowship and our dinner, we adjourned to the magic room where we continued to enjoy the evening!
Our next meeting will be on Thursday, October 9, 2014 at 6:30 p.m. at the home of John and Julia Jefferson.
Following this message is a summary of our meeting.
Keep the “SON” Shining,
John Jefferson
MINUTES:
Mark began with a clever card trick involving forcing a card–a really cool move–and producing the signed card. Well done!! and thanks for sharing!
John showed another way to force a card shown to him by Jerry Burgess. Great to have a choice!
Leland showed us his beautiful, expensive new box. He produced a scarf and when Rick was asked to hold the box and then open it well…what fun!! The name of the trick is Clapper Box.
John then showed a series of tricks he was able to get at the FCM meeting this past summer in Nashville:
John showed how to balance a coke can on the table–great “table trick”
John then put coins in Kristen’s hand and asked her to do a few mathematical computations. He then had her open her hand and reveal the answer! John gave each of us the gimmick that makes the trick work.
Next, John had us all hold hands and demonstrated the energy stick. Several of our members use this fun science effect1
The next effect John shared was his prediction of the ten of diamonds. Very easy and very effective.
The Rabbit in the Hat card was next–what fun especially for little children!
John then described a trick that can be used with alphabet cards, a shoe lace and a change bag, to produce a message. Great trick to make yourself and deliver a specific message!!
Jokes from the conference were next on the agenda. Look for more in The Voice soon!
John demonstrated the Tic Tac Toe effect and then the Chicago water to snow! The Instant Snow Powder can be bought at Hobby Lobby.
Last, John gave each a “bendy” straw and demonstrated his noisy trick that we learned at a clown lecture in Kansas!! Remember, “God made clowns just for laughs!”
Leland said he really enjoyed the Nashville conference and said that they were thinking about having a Magic 101 class next year for the beginners. Sounds like a good idea!
John demonstrated the vanishing dove cage effect and John and Julia demonstrated the Zig Zag. Brought back memories as they used these illusions in their shows for many years. The Grandfather Clock illusion was basically show and then given to Eugene.
We closed in prayer.
John Jefferson
